Your local guide to Las Chapas Playa and Marbella

A wide, sandy beach with calm waters, ideal for families. Easily walked from the villa in 5 minutes. Quieter than central Marbella beaches.

📍 East Marbella — 5 min walk

A local favourite just east of Marbella. Go early morning for calmer water and easier parking. Beach bars (chiringuitos) open from mid-morning.

📍 East Marbella — 10 min drive

Well-equipped central beach with sun-bed hire, showers, and good chiringuitos. Busier in peak season but well-organised. Great for a full family day out.

📍 Marbella town — 15 min drive

If you want a change of scenery, Estepona's beaches are long, less crowded, and easy to reach. The old town is worth a stroll before heading back.

📍 Estepona — 30 min drive

Most beaches have chiringuitos serving grilled fish, paella, and salads. Go for lunch — portions are large and prices are fair. Try espetos de sardinas (grilled sardines on a skewer) — a Costa del Sol staple.

📍 Las Chapas Playa and nearby beaches

Plaza de los Naranjos is the heart of the Old Town, lined with terrace restaurants. Great for an evening out or a leisurely lunch. Tapas bars are easy to find on side streets.

📍 Marbella centre — 15 min drive

Mercadona and Carrefour are the main supermarket chains on the Costa del Sol. Both have stores close to Las Chapas Playa. Mercadona is particularly well-stocked for self-catering families.

📍 1–3 km from the villa

Marbella's famous marina is great for a morning walk along the port, a coffee, or a browse of the shops. Families enjoy the waterfront atmosphere. About 20 km west of the villa.

📍 Puerto Banús — 25 min drive

The dramatic hilltop town of Ronda is about 1 hour inland. The Puente Nuevo bridge and gorge views are spectacular. Easy to visit for a day and return to the villa in time for a pool evening.

📍 Ronda — 1 hr drive

Just 80 km west — a half-day trip that children enjoy for the famous Barbary macaques and cable car. Duty-free shopping on the main street. Bring passports.

📍 Gibraltar — 1 hr drive

The Picasso Museum, Alcazaba fortress, and lively centre make Málaga a great full-day family trip. The airport is here too if anyone needs to travel. About 45 min from the villa.

From Málaga Airport take the A-7 or N-340 east towards Marbella (avoid the AP-7 toll road unless preferred). Take the Las Chapas exit. Most GPS apps will navigate you directly. Download Google Maps offline for the area before travel. Flight details should be shared with us in advance to coordinate check-in.
